Bubba's Beef and Bean Chili - is a traditional country-style chili that goes great with cornbread and sweet butter .Ahhh...the orginal beef chili recipe. Now before going any further, let me explain that the recipes on this page contain beef AND beans. If you want beef only, click here.
You can experiment with new and different ingredients all day long, but rarely does anything beat the original. It doesn't matter if it is mid-January or mid-July, everyone will enjoy a nice warm bowl of this.
Just imagine that simmering smell floating throughout your house…and then imagine the smile on your guests’ faces as soon as they walk in the front door. Not every combo is for every person...well, with maybe the exception of my husband and I. But take your time…your perfect pot may be just a click away.
INGREDIENTS:
* 2 lbs ground beef
* 3 yellow onions, chopped
* 1 stalk celery, chopped
* 1 green bell pepper, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 (14 oz) cans stewed tomatoes
* 2 cups tomato juice
* 1/8 cups barbecue sauce
* 1/4 cup ketchup
* 1 package chili seasoning mix
* 1 package Lipton's dry onion soup mix
* 2 tablespoons chili powder
* 1 tablespoon ground cumin
* 1 beef bouillon cubes
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon pepper
* 2 teaspoons dried basil
* 1 bay leaf
* 1 can kidney beans
* 1 can tomato paste
DIRECTIONS:
1. Brown ground beef in large Dutch over. Drain.
2. Add onions, celery, green peppers and garlic. Mix well and cook until soft.
3. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil.
4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for at least 3 hours, seasoning to taste.
5. Remove bay leaf before serving.
